Schinia jaguarina (Guenée 1852)

Common name: listed here as ‘Scurf-pea flower moth.’

Hodges #: 11132.

Identification: Rfw 13.8 mm, fore tibiae with a series of both inner and outer ‘claws,’ fw with ‘hour-glass’ pattern outlined in white by am and pm lines, hw orange with black marginal band and small discal lunule, a pale color morph lacks black on hw.

Similar species: 11072.1, 11117, 11128, and 11131.

Distribution: Great Plains from southern Canada to Texas, eastward on coast to Florida and westward in south to Arizona.

Hosts: larvae feed on Psoralea spp.– Scurf pea.
