Coleophora trifolii (Curtis 1832)

Common name: Listed here as ‘Sweetclover casebearer.’

Hodges #: 1388.

Identification: Rfw 7.3 mm, fws metallic green with brassy and violet reflections, esp. near apex; antennae white apically, scape and pedicel with ‘bushy’ scales giving a thickened appearance; postocular scales yellow.

Similar species: 1385, 1387.

Distribution: Introduced– northern U. S. and southern Canada east of the Rockies, native to Europe, north Africa and Asia minor.

Hosts: Larvae feed on Melolotis spp.– sweetclover.
