Pesticide Labels

What is a pesticide label?

A pesticide label is “the written, printed, or graphic matter on, or attached to, the pesticide or device or any of its containers or wrappers” (FIRFA section 2(p)). It is intended to assist applicators or handlers to ensure they are handling the pesticides as safely and legally as possible. Incorrect application of pesticides (thus, ignoring the pesticide label) in punishable by U.S. law. Thus, it is important that applicators familiarize themselves with the pesticide labels they’re using.
