Good day!  I hope all is well.

We received no rain in the past week and temperatures have been above normal in the past week.

Harvest is progressing slowly.  About 97% of the soybeans have been harvested and about 75% of the corn has been harvested.

Last chance for women to sign up for Annie’s Project.  This program will be offered from November 15, 2021 to February 28, 2022 for six weeks in Hatton, North Dakota.  To register for the event visit the following website:  www.tinyURL.com/APHatton .  If you have questions about the program call the Griggs County Extension Office at 701-797-3312.  This is an excellent program.

Now that soybean harvest is nearly completed it is time to start looking at the NDSU Variety Research Trial data.  When choosing a soybean variety, it is a good idea to look at the results of as many locations as possible, starting with the closest ones.  I will share the results with you of two Roundup Ready, one from Carrington and the other from Dazey and a Conventional variety trial from Carrington.

The Roundup Ready trial at Carrington was prepared with tillage before planting on May 14, 2021.  The previous crop was barley.  The Carrington site was harvested on September 27, 2021.  The Roundup Ready trial at Dazey was prepared with tillage before planting on May 18, 2021.  The previous crop was spring wheat.  The Dazey site was harvested on September 28, 2021.  The Conventional Soybean trial at Carrington was prepared with tillage before planting on May 21, 2021.  The previous crop was spring wheat.  This trial was harvested on August 16, 2021.

In the Roundup Ready trial at Carrington, Dairyland’s DSR-0847E yielded the most at 33.3 bushels per acre.  Other varieties yielding statistically similar to DSR-0847E included Peterson Farms Seed’s 21XF07, REA Hybrids’s RX0721 at 31.5 bushels per acre, DynaGro’s S04XF32 at 30.7 bushels per acre, Integra’s 70622N at 30.2 bushels per acre, Legacy Seeds’s LS044-21 XF at 30.2 bushels per acre, NK Seeds’s S05-N5X at 30.2 bushels per acre, LG Seeds’s LGS0618XF at 30.1 bushels per acre, Champion’s 0631XL at 30.0 bushels per acre, NK Seeds’s NK05-W3XF at 29.6 bushels per acre, DynaGro’s S05EN82 at 29.4 bushels per acre, Intega’s 50309N at 29.3 bushels per acre, NK Seeds’s S04-Q7X at 29.3 bushels per acre, LG Seeds’s LGS0701XF at 29.0 bushels per acre, and Peterson Farms Seed’s 22XF06 at 28.9 bushels per acre.  NK Seeds’s S05-N5X yielded the most for the two and three-year averages at 51.7 and 60.0 bushels per acre, respectively.

In the Roundup Ready trial at Dazey, Peterson Farms Seed’s 22XF10 yielded the most at 51.3 bushels per acre.  Other varieties yielding statistically similar to 22XF10 included Dairyland Seed’s DSR-1290E at 50.1 bushels per acre, Dairyland Seed’s DSR-0920E at 49.4 bushels per acre, Legacy Seeds’s LS122-21E at 48.8 bushels per acre, Legacy Seeds’s LS082-20E at 48.6 bushels per acre, Dairyland Seed’s DSR-0847E at 47.2 bushels per acre, DynaGro’s SX21906XF at 46.1 bushels per acre, and Thunder Seed’s TX8109N at 46.0 bushels per acre.  Dairyland Seed’s DSR-0920E yielded the most for the two-year average at 50.5 bushels per acre and NK Seeds’s S05-N5X yielded the most for the three-year average at 53.2 bushels per acre.

In the conventional trial, Prograin’s Marula yielded the most at 22.7 bushels per acre.  Other varieties yielding statistically similar to Marula were NDSU’s ND Dickey at 22.2 bushels per acre, Richland IFC’s MK0603 at 20.4 bushels per acre, Prograin’s ASANA at 19.9 bushels per acre, and Richland IFC’s MK808CN at 19.4 bushels per acre.  NDSU’s ND Stutsman yielded the most for the three-year average at 44.9 bushels per acre.

Have a great day and weekend!
