Description

European cotoneaster is a large shrub native to Europe, western Asia and Siberia. ‘Centennial’ was released by the Natural Resources Conservation Service, Plant Materials Center at Bismarck. Produces showy red fruits.

Light: Full sun. 
Water: Medium. 
Soil: Can withstand poor soils but not standing water.

Comments

The fruit of Eastern cotoneaster is poisonous to humans which should be taken into consideration when choosing a location. The major disease affecting cotoneaster is fireblight while the major pest is the pear slug sawfly.
