A large low-branching tree forming an upright, oval to rounded crown. Bright green flowers with a unique reddish to orange-red stem distinguishes this willow from other varieties. Widely planted as a yard tree. Native to Europe and central Asia.

Light: Full sun to partial shade.
Water: Does well on moist sites and survives extreme flooding. Often dies back during extended periods of drought.
Soil: Performs best on well drained moist soils and along stream beds or wetlands.

Very similar to golden willow in looks with the exception of the stem color. Reddish stem color is only on the first year growth. In order to have consistent stem color you will have to cut the plant back on occasion to encourage new growth.
