Description

A shrubby Eurasian species of variable growth habit. Often grows with branches rising at a 45-degree angle in a vase or fountain-like fashion.

Preferences

Light: Full sun. 
Water: Medium use. 
Soil: Adapted to a wide variety, but intolerant of wet soils.

Comments

Savin junipers are generally susceptible to tip and needle blights. Cedar-apple rust and related rust diseases spend part of their life cycle on junipers. 

Several cultivated varieties are available including: 

Arcadia - Features green foliage on a layered spreading plant. Appears resistant to juniper tip blight. 

Broadmoor - A dwarf, low spreading cultivar with soft blue-green foliage. A male cultivar. 

Buffalo - This form has bright green, feathery foliage on a wide spreading plant.
