Description

A small tree with showy white flowers that turn to pink. Bright, glossy foliage turns yellow in the fall. The twisted trunk adds visual interest in the landscape. This short-lived tree was selected at the Morden Research Station in Morden, Manitoba. Some authorities list hardiness to Zone 4, others to Zone 3. Parent of 'Snowbird' hawthorn. Somewhat susceptible to hawthorn-cedar rust.

Preferences

Light: Full sun to part shade. 
Water: Low to high. 
Soil: Adapted to a variety, but will not tolerate standing water.

Comments

An excellent small, vase shaped tree. Somewhat tolerant of urban pollution.
