A medium shrub, native from the east coast to the Northwest Territories, through North Dakota and south to Utah. It would be more popular in landscaping situations, but it suckers profusely.

Light: Full sun to partial shade. 
Water: Prefers subsoil moisture as opposed to waterlogged sites. Drought tolerant. 
Soil: Adaptable to high pH and saline soils.

Silverberry has silver colored leaves. Fast-growing, long-lived and resistant to disease and insect problems and drought. Transplants well, due to a shallow root system. 

A very hardy species for cold climates, and sometimes used in windbreaks.
