Can I apply if I defend this May?
Yes, provided your defense is successful and your final dissertation is fully approved.
Can I apply if I am not a US citizen?
NSF restricts our Postdoc program to students who are U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, or permanent residents of the United States.
Can I apply if I defended a while ago?
Per NSF requirements, our program is restricted to those who earned their PhD within the two years prior to the start of our program (July 2022).
Any other limitations on who can apply?
Yes - applicants cannot hold a tenure-track position.
Do I need previous research experience in DBER or STEM Education?
No experience required! Our program goal is to offer opportunities to those who have had little experience in DBER but are interested in developing this skill set.
What is the salary?
Postdocs in the CiDER program are paid $70,000 annually and receive benefits.
Can I begin later than the July start date?
We ask that all postdocs arrive in Fargo in time for our July 15 start date. This helps to build the cohort experience and make sure you are settled in and ready to go! If you do have a conflict, please reach out to us as we may be able to make an accommodation.
