A visit to NDSU is more than a campus tour. Our potential students experience the full breadth of what NDSU has to offer, and meet with students, staff and faculty who are enthusiastic about the college search.
Each campus visit starts with a student-led tour throughout campus, including classroom and living spaces, dining centers and campus recreation sites. Tour guides are knowledgeable, friendly and create connections with students and visitors.
“My favorite part of giving a campus tour is the different conversations I have with the people on my tour,” said Katlyn Balstad, a senior management communication and crop and weed sciences student from Fosston, Minnesota, who has been a tour guide since her freshman year. “I love to show people a place that’s been a part of my story. Seeing how NDSU can become a big part of their life and impact them in different ways is a unique opportunity.”
Visits to campus occur year-round. Daily campus visits are offered during regular university hours Monday through Friday.
After their campus tour, tour guides drop visitors off with an admission counselor, a professional staff member in the Office of Admission, who answer additional questions about campus. Students also have the option to meet any academic departments or student success services – including Office of Multicultural Programs or Disability Services – based on availability.
Additional special visit events, like Discover NDSU, are hosted throughout the year. Events are larger than a typical daily visit but still contain impactful information that can help students decide to attend NDSU.
“I came during one of the big group events,” said Brooke Kummer, a sophomore from St. Michael-Albertville, Minnesota, who is studying criminal justice and emergency management. “It was so cool to see campus for the first time. I knew right away that this was going to be home.”
Visiting campus not only is an opportunity to see campus, but also learn more about the campus community and build connections.
“Right away, I bonded with the type of community here,” said Kummer. “Everyone was so welcoming.”
