Figuring out what to study in college is a big decision. It’s OK if you don’t know the minute you walk through the university gates. College is about exploration and becoming who you are meant to be.
That’s why NDSU has developed an exploratory majors program. Exploratory majors are collections of academic majors that can lead to a variety of careers in a related field. Advisers guide your academic choices and help you investigate majors that align with your interests, strengths and goals.
Here’s how it works: You enroll in a first-year experience course with other students interested in the same exploratory area. Your academic adviser is almost always the instructor of that first-year course, allowing you and your adviser to get to know each other over the course of a semester and beyond.
NDSU's five exploratory areas:
- Business Studies
- Health and Life Sciences
- Liberal Arts, Communication and Design
- Social Science, Human Services and Education
- STEM
You can choose an exploratory major and still graduate on time.
