‘A great opportunity to try something new and relaxing on campus’

The NDSU Wallman Wellness Center offers unique events throughout the semester for students to enjoy. One of the most popular amongst NDSU students is Floaty Night, held once each semester for students to float and relax on the water. It’s a great way to enjoy the Aquatics Center and meet new friends on campus.

There are a variety of floaties to choose from. Some favorites include a giant duck with sunglasses, a dragon, a llama, and even an avocado. There are over 32 different animal floaties that members can choose from, along with ring floaties and pool noodles.

Emily Kiefat, a senior civil engineering student and head lifeguard at NDSU’s Aquatics Center has worked almost every floaty night.

“We make sure we have enough guards working so everyone is safe throughout the night,” she said.  “Every event has been a great success.”

She recommends that all students attend at least one Floaty Night while at NDSU. “It's a great opportunity to try something new and relaxing on campus. You can lounge on the floaties with friends while going around the vortex pool or hang out in the lap pool while floating on a pink flamingo,” Kiefat said.

The NDSU Aquatics Center opened in 2016. The facility includes a six-lane lap pool, hot tub, vortex circle pool, lounge space, basketball and volleyball nets, fire pit, wet classroom, sauna, GroupFIT classes, intramural programming and locker rooms.

Floaty Night is held twice a year and any NDSU student can participate for free.
