There were 24 different colleges and universities competing in the event. The NDSU Horticulture & Forestry Club team are national champions, placing first overall.
NDSU Horticulture and Forestry Club students and faculty attended the 2023 Tree Care Industry Association Student Career Day event on Nov. 17, 2023, in St. Louis, Missouri at the TCIA Expo.
NDSU team members Malissa Ball, Rebecca Heide, Clarissa Satrom, Jakob Van Berkom and Sydney York competed in six different events, including knot tying, gear match, tree trivia, pest identification, job site setup and throwline. Each of the events was sponsored by a national tree care company.

Heide placed third overall, and Satrom placed fifth overall. Heide is majoring in landscape architecture, and Satrom is majoring in horticulture and urban agriculture with an emphasis in urban forestry and parks.
