NDSU pitcher Krista Menke is one of 30 NCAA softball student-athletes selected as candidates for the 2015 Senior CLASS Award in collegiate softball. The award recognizes student-athletes who excel both on and off the field.
Menke, a senior from Friend, Nebraska, maintains a 3.627 grade-point average while majoring in exercise science. She is a member of the NDSU Student-Athlete Advisory Council and has been active in council and softball team community projects.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.
The 30 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists later in the season, and placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one candidate. The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 2015 Women's College World Series.
