Mohamed Mergoum, NDSU's Richard C. Frohberg Spring Wheat Breeding/Genetics Endowed Professor, was part of a team of U.S. wheat breeders that visited Asia on a U.S. Wheat Associates trade trip during April. The purpose of the trip was to communicate with overseas customers regarding their wheat quality needs and to share what the U.S. wheat industry has done to improve newly released varieties.
The team visited with buyers and end-users from Japan, Korea, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia.
Other members of the team included colleagues from Washington State University, Oregon State University, University of Minnesota and U.S. Wheat Associates.
Mergoum was featured in an article about the trip on the North Dakota Wheat Commission's webpage. It is found at www.ndwheat.com/growers/details.asp?nID=2591.
