Taylor Kemper, a junior from Herman, Minnesota, majoring in crop and weed sciences, was awarded the Mid America CropLife Association Young Leader Scholarship.
The scholarship program is designed to introduce future agriculturists to the crop protection industry and future career opportunities. Candidates for the scholarship must be enrolled in an agriculture-focused program at one of the 13 land-grant universities, and have secured a summer internship within agriculture, preferably in the crop protection industry. One scholarship is awarded per university.
Kemper will work as a sales representative intern for Dow AgroSciences this summer. She will travel with and assist sales representatives in the Northern Plains district, which covers North Dakota and northeastern Minnesota. She also will do some agriculture field plot research.
Kemper will attend the association's annual meeting in Chicago this fall. She and the other scholarship recipients will speak about their internship experiences.
