NDSU communication staff earn awards

Four NDSU communications professionals were honored for their work during North Dakota Professional Communicators’ recent conference in Fargo.

The four receiving awards in the 2018 North Dakota Professional Communicators’ communications contest were:

Becky Koch, Agriculture Communication director

First - Catalogs, manuals and handbooks for the Extension Disaster Education Network Family Preparedness Educational Program

First - Magapapers/tabloids - horticulture and forestry Ag Mag

Ellen Crawford, information specialist, Agriculture Communication

First - Single news or feature release for a news release on distillers’ grains research at the Carrington Research Extension Center

First - News story, online publication, for an article on Extension strengthening programs to meet citizen needs

First - News story for magazine, newsletter or other non-newspaper print publication, for an article on Extension helping communities take charge of their future

First - Book edited by entrant - “The Windbreak Cookbook”

Second - Reports - Rural Leadership North Dakota’s Class VII summary book

Third - Publications regularly edited by entrant - Foodwise newsletters

Third - Specialty articles, education, for articles on transformational education and 4-H leadership opportunities teaching lifelong skills

Third - Specialty articles, agriculture, for articles on Extension efforts to educate producers on the veterinary feed directive and weed control
