Two Department of Plant Sciences undergraduate students were awarded North Dakota Corn Growers Association $1,000 scholarships in October.
Vincent Carruth and Blake Nelson are crop and weed sciences majors and plan to work as agronomists in agriculture industry after graduation.
Carruth is a freshman from Ellendale, North Dakota, and is advised by Edward Deckard, professor of plant sciences. Nelson is a sophomore from Gwinner, North Dakota, and his adviser is Xiwen Cai, professor of plant sciences.
There were 10 NDCGA scholarships available for undergraduate students. The students submitted an application, a description of career plans, recommendation letters, a resume, and a copy of their most recent transcript, as well proof of membership in the association.
