NDSU Department of Plant Sciences visiting scholar Zhao Jin was awarded second place in the Post-Doctoral Researcher Poster Competition at the U.S. Wheat and Barley Scab Initiative 2019 National Fusarium Head Blight Forum held Dec. 8-10 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Jin works with Paul Schwarz, professor of plant sciences, on the malting barley quality project.
Jin was one of six award winners out of 67 poster presenters at the forum. Her poster is titled “Fungal Localization and Mycotoxin Production in FHB Infected Grain and Malt Kernels.”
The initiative is a national collaborative project established in 1997 to understand and combat Fusarium Head Blight in wheat and barley in the north-central region of the United States. Researchers from 10 land-grant universities hold annual forums to share progress and strategies.
