NDSU linebacker Jackson Hankey won the NCAA Elite 90 Award presented Jan. 10 at the NCAA Division I Football Championship banquet in Frisco, Texas.
The award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average at each of the NCAA's 90 national championships. Hankey, a sophomore from Park River, North Dakota, has a 4.0 GPA in agricultural economics.
Hankey was selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-America second team in December by a vote of the College Sports Information Directors of America. He also made the Missouri Valley Football Conference All-Academic first team.
