Alison Graham-Bertolini, associate professor of English and women's studies, has co-edited a new collection of essays titled “Understanding the Short Fiction of Carson McCullers.”

The 242-page book, which is published by Mercer University Press, is scheduled for April release. Graham-Bertolini co-edited the book with Casey Kayser, assistant professor of English at the University of Arkansas.

The book uses diverse critical techniques to describe how McCullers’ shorter fiction engages with contemporary audiences. The collection analyses some of her better-known works, as well as those that have received little or no critical attention.

Graham-Bertolini contributed to the book in addition to being co-editor.

Graham-Bertolini also is the co-editor of “Carson McCullers in the Twenty-First Century” and author of “Vigilante Women in Contemporary American Fiction.” Her work on American women authors has been published in The Journal of the Midwest Modern Language Association and The Southern Quarterly.
