NDSU had 104 student-athletes earn 114 spots on the 2019-20 The Summit League Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence, the league office announced. For the first time in school history, NDSU received The Summit League Institutional Academic Achievement Award, as the Bison recorded the highest percentage of list-eligible student-athletes with the distinction.
In addition, the NDSU women's basketball, men's golf, women's golf, women's soccer and softball teams captured the league's team academic achievement award. The award is based on the percentage of list-eligible student-athletes on the Commissioner's List. The five winners were the most in the Summit League.
A total of 757 student-athletes make up the 2019-20 Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence across 17 sports.
In order for a student-athlete to be selected to the Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence, the student-athlete must carry a 3.50 or better cumulative GPA, have used a year of eligibility and completed one academic year at the nominating institution.
