NDSU student-athletes continued their history of academic success during the fall 2021 semester with all 14 sport programs recording team grade-point averages of 3.0 or better.
Four of NDSU's teams achieved GPAs of 3.5 or better, led by the Bison women's golf team at 3.87. Women's volleyball posted a 3.71, men's golf 3.68 and women's cross country 3.59. Men's track and field recorded an all-time high for its program with a 3.49.
NDSU had 317 student-athletes (75%) earn a GPA of 3.0 or higher during the fall 2021 semester, including 104 student-athletes (25%) with a perfect 4.0 GPA for the semester. Through the fall semester, 339 student-athletes (80%) have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
The national champion Bison football team averaged a 3.13 team GPA for the semester with 76 student-athletes attaining a 3.0 or higher.
NDSU linebacker Cole Wisniewski won the NCAA Elite 90 Award, which is awarded to the student-athlete with the highest GPA at each of the NCAA's 90 national championships. Wisniewski had a 4.0 cumulative GPA in business administration.
Bison defensive tackle Lane Tucker was selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-America second team by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Tucker is a graduate of the NDSU sport management program and had a 3.86 GPA in the Master of Business Administration program.
