Bison student-athlete named to Academic All-America first team

NDSU volleyball senior setter Kelley Johnson has been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America first team.

Johnson becomes the first NDSU volleyball player to earn CSC Academic All-America honors since 2006. She’s also only the fifth player overall and second to be named to the first team in program history. The award was originally named CoSIDA Academic All-America. 

Johnson has a 4.00 GPA in biological sciences and had a career-high 1,342 assists this season, which led the Summit League. The Eagan, Minnesota, native also has 2,856 career assists, which ranks 10th all-time in NDSU history. She’s one of five players reach 2,000 assists in NDSU Division I era.

She was named the Summit League Setter of the Year, earned a spot on the All-Summit League first team, was named the Summit League Scholar of the Championship and picked up Summit League All-Academic Team honors earlier this season.
