Choose a Path That Works for You
Tailor your degree to meet your unique career aspirations by choosing one of two professional emphases in advertising or public relations. A public relations emphasis will orient you to the principles and practices of public relations, while an advertising emphasis introduces you to the principles and practices of advertising.
Real-World Experience
Gain practical, hands-on experience during a required three credits (120 hours) of field experience. Students have interned with advertising/marketing firms, nonprofits and media companies in the Fargo-Moorhead area and beyond with internships often leading to full-time jobs following graduation.
Professional Development and Leadership
Broaden your horizons and expand your experience outside of the classroom through involvement in student organizations, including the Advertising Club, the department's chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America or any of the other student organizations affiliated with the department. Participation in extracurricular activities help you to connect with peers and develop leadership skills.

Upon completion of the program you’ll find a variety of rewarding careers in areas, including graphic design, copy writing/editing, client services, event planning, promotion, evaluation, publicity and media relations, creative design, professional business consulting and corporate training.
