Tomatoes

Tomatoes are classified as a fruit and not a vegetable. People tend to refer tomatoes as vegtables because of their use in salads. Tomaotes are classified as a fruit because they are an ovary of a flowering plants which puts them in the fruit category.

History

Tomatoes originally started in Central and South America. Tomaotes then spreaded into Mexico and then the tomato made its way over to the European countries. An interesting fact is that Canada and the United States did not learn about or recieve the tomato from Mexico, the Europeans were the ones who first introduced the fruit to Canada and the US.
