Here we have an end moraine. The front edge of the glacier became stuck here at one time which, in turn, caused the formation of a small hill.

Imagine, if you will, a giant lobe of ice becoming stuck in the ground, and still under great pressure to move, it proceeds to thrust up the ground creating a small hill. This lobe has an arcuate shape, and if one were to study this end moraine from above one would see the arc shape of the formation. If you were to poke your finger into sand at a low angle it would create a shape very similar to this.
