Arctiidae: Arctiinae: Arctiini


Grammia williamsii (Dodge 1871)

Common name: Williams' tiger moth.

Hodges #: 8186 as Apantesis williamsii (Dodge).

Identification: Rfw 15.1 mm, fw with transverse lines not extending below fold, hw pinkish-orange, variably infuscated, pro-tibia white dorsally. 

Similar species: 8179, 8182, 8185, 8187, 8193.

Distribution: western U.S. and southern Canada, not on Pacific coast.

Hosts:  larvae feed on Senecio-- groundsel and Erigeron-- fleabane (Asteraceae).
