Horticulture Student Receives Landscape Association Scholarship
Quinn Nowacki, horticulture student at North Dakota State University (NDSU), was selected to receive the 2021-2022 Robin D. Linder Memorial Scholarship sponsored by the Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association (MNLA) Foundation.
Nowacki is from West Fargo, ND, and is advised by Dr. Todd West, professor and director of the woody plant improvement program. During her time at NDSU, she has earned a spot on the Dean’s List multiple semesters and has received the NDSU Provost Scholarship Award, the North Dakota Academic Scholarship, and an F-M Area Foundation Award.
Nowacki began working at Baker Garden and Gift in high school and has continued during college. She has been promoted several times and is currently the Retail Greenhouse Manager, overseeing all outdoor employees, plant material orders, and outdoor daily operations at the retail location.
She expects to graduate in spring 2023 and would like to work as an urban forester or continue in the nursery and greenhouse industry. She is also considering graduate school.
The MNLA scholarship program is designed to help grow future leaders in the nursery and landscape industry. Scholarship recipients are chosen based on academic achievement, recommendations by instructors and employers, and career goals in the nursery and landscape industry. The Robin D. Linder Memorial Scholarship honors the former owner of Linder’s Garden Center and Greenhouse, St. Paul, MN.
