People
The Center for Writers at NDSU is staffed by a team of trained writing consultants from diverse academic disciplines and supported by professionals with expertise in writing pedagogy and program design. Together, they provide individualized writing support to students, faculty, and staff across the university, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment for academic and professional writing development.
What We Do
The Center for Writers provides individualized writing support to students, faculty, and staff across all disciplines. We offer one-on-one consultations, writing workshops, class visits, guided writing groups and other resources to help writers at any stage of the writing process, from generating ideas and organizing content to revising drafts and refining style. Our goal is to promote effective, confident, and independent writers through collaborative, professional, and student-centered support.
AI Guidance Statement
We aim to cultivate creative and critical thinkers prepared to tackle complex problems. Writing is essential to this process, allowing individuals to explore ideas, actively learn, and refine their thinking. Skilled writers engage with writing as a tool for discovery, using it intentionally to deepen their understanding. While AI is one of many tools available to support the writing process, it cannot replace the creative and critical thinking that problem-solving requires. Instead, we encourage the ethical and responsible use of AI to enhance, not substitute, the writer’s choices, skills, and unique voice.
