Gluten-Free Dietary Accommodations

NDSU Dining Centers

NDSU Dining unlimited meal plans include access to both the Residence Dining Center and West Dining Center.

Although there may be gluten-free options at every dining center, the West Dining Center is the designated allergen-friendly dining facility. West is where you’ll find Clean Eats - a food station that serves meals free of the top 9 allergens (and gluten). This station serves full meals during lunch and dinner, as well as continental breakfast offerings in the mornings. Clean Eats also offers gluten-free breads, bagels, buns, and cereals.

While Clean Eats in the West Dining Center is the designated gluten-free food station, all of the dining centers and food stations have rotation menu items that may be gluten-free. Please note, however, that these areas also prepare foods that contain gluten, so there is a higher risk of cross-contact.

The Residence Dining Center serves some gluten-free items out of their Creations food station. For example, on build-your-own-pizza days, you may request a gluten-free crust. On build-your-own-pasta days, you may request gluten-free pasta. The Residence Dining Center also has a mini-fridge that offers a variety of individually wrapped gluten-free breads and desserts

Menu Labeling

When it comes to learning more about the ingredients in foods served at the dining centers, NDSU Dining displays nutrition labels online for all of our menu items. The online menu can be accessed online o r on the NDSU Dining mobile app.

In the West Dining Center and the Residence Dining Center, guests will see digital menu signs above each station that display the menu and allergen icons of the food being served. The digital signs show gluten-containing and gluten-free icons so guests can easily see which items are gluten-free or not. In addition to the different hot line stations, NDSU Dining also has a salad bar and deli bar with several naturally gluten-free items.
