Research

Biomedical Engineering:

  • Bioelectronics: Dielectrophoresis.
  • Photonic sub-systems for spectroscopy applied to biology and biomedicine. The lab has optical spectrometers, optical microscopes, and an in-house built system for time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy.
  • Advanced Monte Carlo methods for the modeling and design and optimization of optical coherence tomography (OCT) systems.

Optical Fiber Communications

  • Characterization and mitigation of the performance degradation due to the polarization effects and other impairments that affect the performance of high-speed QPSK and other QAM optical fiber communication systems.
