NDSU’s Oceti Sakowin Ballroom was filled with laughter, warmth and the inviting aroma of turkey and gravy on Wednesday, Nov. 27, as students gathered for the second annual Friendsgiving event.
The event, co-hosted by NDSU President David Cook and Dr. Kate Cook; NDSU Student Affairs and Institutional Equity; and the NDSU Foundation, provided the opportunity for international students, graduate students and students staying in the residence halls during the holiday break to come together and share a free meal.
“It’s an honor to be hosting our second annual Friendsgiving. We’re excited to get students together to celebrate everything we’re thankful for this year,” Kate Cook said.
NDSU precision agriculture doctoral student Eman Eldeeb said the community at NDSU is amazing.
“I feel like the community is like an NDSU family with all of us gathering together. I feel the Bison sprit,” said Eldeeb, who is from Egypt.
Eldeeb, who enjoyed NDSU Dining’s pre-Thanksgiving meal on Nov. 21, said she was looking forward to trying more traditional Thanksgiving dishes.
The meal included roast turkey, vegetable lasagna, mashed potatoes, sage stuffing, turkey gravy, green bean casserole, corn, sweet potatoes, coleslaw, relish trays, dinner rolls, lefse, cranberries, lemonade, coffee, tea and a variety of desserts, including pie.
