A team of students from the NDSU Department of Construction Management and Engineering won a top award at the North Central Region of the Associated Schools of Construction virtual student competition.
In the Construction 1 division, NDSU students took home the first place trophy. Team members included Cy Kuschel, Joseph Halter, Blaine Sederstrom, Nolan Hentges, Sloan Smith and Brinley Mathern.
The competition helps students learn how to work under pressure, work as a team and enhance their communication skills by placing them in real-life project management situations.
Over the course of five days teams were asked to schedule, estimate, cost analyze and resolve several management issues. A panel of industry judges reviewed and graded each team’s proposals.
This year’s event was conducted virtually and allowed students to experience how the construction industry has been forced to adjust to the limitations and unique challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
As a student-focused, land-grant, research university, we serve our citizens.
