NDSU horticulture student Kevin Friedt was selected to receive a 2021 National Association of Landscape Professionals Foundation scholarship. He will be awarded the Moore Landscape Scholarship during the NALP National Collegiate Landscape Competition virtual conference set for March 15-19.
The foundation grants scholarships to students enrolled in landscape contracting or horticultural programs at two-year or four-year colleges and universities. Students must be an active member of their NALP student chapter to qualify for a scholarship.
Friedt is a senior from Harvey, North Dakota, who will graduate in December 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in horticulture and a business minor. He is advised by Todd West, professor and woody plant improvement program leader in the Department of Plant Sciences.
Friedt is a member and the current treasurer of the NDSU Horticulture and Forestry Club, has received several scholarships and has earned a place on the dean’s list multiple times. He is also an Eagle Scout and has worked for several landscaping companies during his years at NDSU.
Following graduation, Friedt plans to set up his own landscaping and snow removal company in the Midwest.
