Getting ready to move to campus

NDSU Move-In Day is Saturday, August 21.

Moving to college is an exciting adventure, especially as a freshman living in the heart of campus. You will meet lifelong friends and increase your connection to the university through involvement in academic, social and extracurricular activities. And you’ll be within walking distance to class, dining and coffee shops.

Here’s what you need to know as you prepare to move in.

Every residence hall has its own unique amenities and features, but all of them offer printing stations, onsite mail, coinless laundry, cleaning supplies, cable and free video streaming services, recreation and study lounges, a community kitchen, Wi-Fi and secure, keyless card entrances.

Before you move to NDSU, you can review your residence hall and room assignment. If you want to connect with your roommate, you can view each other’s contact information in Campus Connection.

“My roommate lived in Montana, so I didn’t get the chance to meet her in person until the day we moved in, but we did make sure to get to know each other through the summer,” said NDSU sophomore Karisa Wilson. “We would text, Snapchat and even FaceTime. We talked about anything and everything, just getting to know each other. We wanted to get to know each other because we were going to be living together and would need to get along. I’m glad that I got to know my roommate before I moved to campus because it didn’t feel awkward when I first saw her. We already knew each other and were friends.”

If you will be parking a car on campus during the school year, a valid parking permit is required. They are now available for purchase online. If you don’t have a car, check out the MATBUS system to easily move around Fargo-Moorhead.

NDSU also has plenty of places to eat. We have three dining centers for you to enjoy a quick meal or snack on your way to class. Our West Dining Center was recently remodeled to include a smoothie bar, clean-eats station with foods free of the top eight allergens, fresh bakery and other options. NDSU Dining meal plans are available to purchase online. NDSU Dining also has five specialty eateries located in the lower level of the Memorial Union.

We’ve got plenty of coffee options, too. There are five full-service NDSU Dining coffee shops, where you can get all coffee drinks plus a variety of pastries, sandwiches, salads and soups. Memorial Union is home to Caribou Coffee’s campus-favorite coffee, tea and treats.

“There's an excitement in the air when students move on campus in August. With each new academic year comes a new year of opportunities - opportunities for students to dive into their career path, meet lifelong friends and learn more about who they are. That's what the college experience is all about." said Logan Staton, director of Seim Hall.

NDSU Move-In Day is Saturday, Aug. 21.
