NDSU Department of Public Health recently earned the Public Health Team of the Year Award from the North Dakota Public Health Association.
The annual award is presented to a team that works collaboratively on a unique, creative or outstanding public health effort, program or goal.
The NDSU public health team, which includes students, faculty and staff, assisted the region with contact tracing, antibody testing, education, vaccination, research and more to aid the state and university during the global COVID-19 pandemic.
“Pandemics are primarily a threat to communities, more than to individuals. So mitigating a pandemic is also a community and a team response more than an individual response. The NDSU Department of Public Health faculty and staff have been a true team internally, and with the entire state of North Dakota, leveraging their position to mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in North Dakota,” said Mark Strand, NDSU professor of pharmacy practice and public health. “The department has also equipped the current generation of public health workers to be prepared to meet every challenge that comes their way.”
NDSU is a member of the Association of Schools and Programs for Public Health and the MPH program is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health.
NDSU also offers accelerated bachelor’s to master’s degree options, a certificate in public health and a dual degree option. In addition to graduate programs, the Bachelor of Science in health services is offered by the NDSU College of Health Professions. An undergraduate minor in public health also is available.
