Donors contributed $565,864 to fund scholarships for students in the NDSU College of Health Professions for 2022-23.
Students in pharmacy, nursing, allied sciences, health services and public health celebrated scholarship awards through an in-person and virtual event on Sept. 15 at the Fargodome.
“As a student, I appreciate having scholarships so much because it helps take the stress of making an income throughout college so that I can really focus on school and the internship I have. I feel very supported in having scholarships and donors to help me out,” said Sarah Wirz, pharmacy class of 2024.
One scholarship was given in honor and memory of alumnus Robert E. Nelson, PharmD ’97, who was twice named Teacher of the Year in the NDSU the School of Pharmacy. “Rob was so grateful for the scholarships he received. We want to lift up the next generation of pioneers in pharmacy so they can reach for their dreams and goals and improve the lives of others,” said Nelson’s family.
“We greatly appreciate generous donors who make these scholarships possible,” said Charles D. Peterson, dean of the College of Health Professions. “Scholarships help provide our students support to pursue their education in health professions.”
The NDSU College of Health Professions prepares future professionals for careers in pharmacy, nursing, allied sciences, health services and public health. The college offers accredited bachelor’s and graduate degree programs, as well as online educational opportunities.
