Notodonta sinplaria Grief 1881

Common name: Northern finned caterpillar

Hodges #: 7928

Identification: Rfw 21.2 mm, with tuft at mid point along inner margin. Eyes hairy, male antennae bipecinate with pectinations decreasing in size to apex. 

Similar species: 7919, 7920, 7994, 7995, 7998, 7999, 8005, 6237.

Distribution: southern Canada and northern United States.

Hosts: Larval feed on Poplars- Populus spp. and Willows- Salix spp.
