What is this page? What is it for?
This page is meant to give you more information about graduate school
and about working in my lab with me as a faculty advisor. Everyone
has different academic experiences coming in to graduate school, so
this page is meant to fill in some of the gaps for those who are a
little less familiar with the overall philosophy of graduate school
or its detailed workings. This page should give you a starting sense
of my views on Graduate School and provide a starting point in figuring
out if we would be a good match as student and advisor. Hopefully
it is a useful first step in your success as a future graduate student. |
Important disclaimer - Not all graduate programs
are the same.
No two graduate programs are the same. There are incredible differences
in how things work among disciplines, departments, even between individual
faculty mentors with adjacent offices! That's not to say that there
aren't some similarities. However, I want to make it extremely clear
that the information I am providing is tailored specifically for how
I approach things in my lab in the Entomology Department at NDSU.
If you're interested in some different perspectives, Spencer Hall's
web site is a fantastic
resource to start from (click- "Grad Resource Page" on the
left). |
