Who are your role models or inspiring folks?

First and foremost, I would say my parents. Richard and Connie Haidt are the two people who inspire me most. They are constant support and light for understanding what I want in this life as a person and artist. From an artist perspective, an artist I have always admired is Kiki Smith and her linguistics in creating art. I have been honored to learn from many greats that I constantly honor: John Volk, Jessica Matson-Fluto, Phil Sanders, Carl Oltvedt.

Outside of art and design fields, what inspires you?

Outside of the art and design field I find inspiration in nature and music. Which still find their way into my art.

What do you wish you had known when you started out as a student/in this field?

To take the time to understand the community I am creating in. It took me a couple years to understand while in school to piece it together, but social engagement and active participation in the art community to understand the support that can come into plan is important.

What was your most memorable meal?

Although it was over fourteen years ago it is something that is revisited by my memory often. To this day I still think about the experience and the tastes that came along with it. I was exploring the city of Greco, Italy. conchiglie air fungi (shells with cream & mushrooms), gnocchi al Pomodoro (gnocchi dumplings with tomato sauce), carnie allay Giglia (grilled meats), palate al for no (oven-roasted potatoes) and granita di spumante (champagne-strawberry sorbet) with coffee and a bit of Amaroo in a tiny chocolate cup to wash it all down. Between courses we stood in the sun on the terrace above and watched a rainstorm move across the valley far below. I will never forget that gnocchi….

In your office, you can only have three things, one book, one tool, and one picture. What would they be and why?

Picture: A Richard Serra Print (understand black pigment forever)

Book: The Divine Comedy (three books to last me a life time to read over and over…and over)

Tool: readers so I can see my book
