Participate in the SBARE priority planning process for the next legislative session

The State Board of Agricultural Research and Education (SBARE) was established by the North Dakota Legislative Assembly to work closely on needs assessment with the North Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station (NDAES) and NDSU Extension.

As outlined in North Dakota Century Code, SBARE provides the Legislature and Governor with recommendations on how critical state needs can be addressed by the NDAES and NDSU Extension, and ensures that their investments on behalf of North Dakota citizens will yield great long-term dividends—through new discoveries, improved efficiency, and long-term impact. Examples of past initiatives can be found at past priorities.

  • NDAES research goals are to: 1.) find solutions to problems faced by farmers and ranchers in the state; 2.) discover opportunities that enhance the quality of life, sustain food, feed, fiber and fuel production; and 3.) protect the great land and resources of North Dakota. NDAES researchers are located at the Main Station at Fargo and at Research Extension Centers (RECs) strategically placed throughout the state.
  • NDSU Extension extends research-based education to North Dakota residents of all ages and walks of life. You will find Extension at work in your county, at RECs and at the main campus of NDSU. Extension's efforts have a special emphasis on strengthening agriculture and developing the potential of youth, adults and communities.

The process of preparing recommendations by receiving input from stakeholder groups and individuals in planning for the 2027 Legislative session will begin this fall. You have a vital stake in ND's future and are invited to provide your input your thoughts on critical needs and concepts for solutions. You're welcome to share input in whatever format works best for you.
