Business Connections Mentorship Program
Real Mentors. Real Advice. Real Impact.
At the NDSU College of Business, we don’t just prepare students for the real world—we plug them right into it.
The Business Connections Program is an exclusive opportunity for business students to get paired with industry professionals who are ready to share real-world experience, career advice, and behind-the-scenes insights.
This isn’t just networking. This is connection with purpose.
How does it work?
Application Process
Each fall—typically in October—students and professionals are invited to apply for the mentorship program. As part of the application, we ask participants to share details about their background, interests, and goals. This helps us match students with mentors whose experience aligns with their career aspirations.
Program Timeline
The mentorship program lasts one semester. It begins with a kickoff banquet in early December and wraps up in April. During that time, students and mentors build a professional relationship that works for their individual schedules and goals.
Mentorship Meet Ups
At the December kickoff event, all participants receive a guide with conversation starters, meeting ideas, and helpful tips to get started. While the College of Business hosts three scheduled events during the semester, the rest is up to you! Together, mentors and mentees decide how often to meet and what to focus on—whether it’s career planning, interview prep, industry insights, or just a casual chat over coffee.
Every match is unique. Some pairs set specific goals, while others keep it more informal. No matter the style, the goal is the same: to create meaningful connections that help students grow professionally and give mentors a rewarding way to give back.
What You’ll Gain
