Sukanya Pachani (she/her)
Bio:
I was born and brought up in one of the north-eastern states of India called Assam. I graduated in Agricultural Sciences and completed my Masters in Soil Science from Assam Agricultural University, India. I have over four years of research assistantship experience in nano-fertilizers, phosphorus management in acidic soil, slow-release oxygenation for wastewater treatment, bioremediation of crude oil contaminated sites with field implementation experience across multiple locations in India like Assam, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Goa. Additionally, I worked on a brief project with North Eastern Hills University (NEHU), India to understand the bio-dynamics of arsenic in soil ecosystems.
Research:
I will be joining the ECS program as a PhD student for Environmental Sciences in Fall 2024. I am interested to work in the field of soil bioremediation. I believe my previous experiences have broadened my perspective towards adopting a resilient and eco-friendly research approach by understanding the grass root level problems of our environment.
