Challey Institute to host Minneapolis Federal Reserve outreach director

The Sheila and Robert Challey Institute for Global Innovation and Growth will host Erick Garcia Luna as part of its Human Progress and Flourishing workshop series on Friday. Feb. 7. 

Garcia Luna, a regional outreach director at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, will present a talk titled “Immigrants and the Midwest Labor Force” from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Central in the Beckwith Recital Hall, with a virtual attendance option available via Zoom.

Garcia Luna brings extensive expertise in economic analysis, serving as a co-author of the Federal Reserve’s Beige Book and contributing to key discussions on inflation, business conditions, and labor. His insights have been featured in prominent outlets, including Marketplace and Bloomberg TV

With roles in the U.S. Senate, the City of Minneapolis and the University of Minnesota, Garcia Luna is uniquely positioned to provide valuable perspectives on the economic contributions of immigrants to the Midwest labor market.

The Human Progress and Flourishing workshop series, hosted by the Challey Institute, invites nationally and internationally renowned experts to discuss policies and solutions that drive opportunity, innovation, and societal well-being. These free, bi-weekly seminars are open to the public and encourage community engagement in fostering meaningful dialogue on global and regional challenges.

Attendees are invited to participate in the seminar and join a post-event reception with light refreshments in the Challey School of Music Atrium.
