NDSU’s online LPN to BSN program has been ranked as one of the best in the country by RegisteredNursing.org, a nursing advocacy organization.
In “2021-Best Online LPN to RN Programs,” NDSU is No. 2 on the list. The organization listed top nursing schools as a guide to help licensed practical or vocational nurses who wish to earn an associate’s or bachelor’s degree online and then apply for state licensure.
“Nursing programs were assessed on several factors which represent how well a program supports students towards licensure and beyond. We analyzed past and present first-time NCLEX-RN “pass-rates,” weighted by year,” said Sally Worthington of RegisteredNursing.org. “Online LPN to RN programs are leading the way in helping LPNs further their education while addressing the overall nursing shortage. Congratulations to your entire team on this outstanding accomplishment.”
NDSU's LPN to BSN program provides an opportunity for nurses to earn a bachelor's degree primarily online. The sequence of nursing courses is six semesters (including summers) in length. The program is currently about six credits of nursing per semester for the part-time student. Most students complete six-to-nine credits a semester.
“The LPN-BSN Program at NDSU offers coursework in an online format, while still providing excellent hands-on clinical and simulation experiences. Faculty use a variety of teaching methods to provide students with an engaging online course," said Karla Haug, assistant professor and program director. "Many of our students work full-time and have families while they pursue their online LPN to BSN degree from NDSU. This national recognition of NDSU's online LPN to BSN program calls attention to the consistent performance of a program that helps nurses take the next step to advance their careers."
The program also was recognized as one of the best accredited online programs in the U.S. for 2018-19 by AffordableCollegesOnline.org.
