NDSU provides students with firsthand experience on how to run a foodservice establishment with the nutrition science and dietetic student managed 800 Café located on campus in the Family Life Center room 312. This is an on-campus restaurant managed by nutrition science and dietetic students as part of their program. Meals are planned to be as close as possible to 800 calories as the name suggests. All meals are focused on whole foods and making as many recipes as possible from scratch.
Please join student manager, Lindsey Barton from Clara City, Minnesota, for her Spring-themed lunch planned for Thursday, March 20. The first seating is at 11 a.m., and the last seating starts at 12:15 p.m. Each meal costs $15 per person, or four meals for $50 with a purchased punch card. Payments can be made in the form of cash or check at the door.
The menu items are featured around fruits and vegetables that are in season during the spring. The meal features a cream of asparagus soup topped with a dollop of Greek yogurt, a touch of lemon juice, and a pinch of lemon zest for a starter, an entrée of almond-crusted cod under a bed of steamed wild rice covered with lemon-butter caper sauce with a side of garlic roasted radishes, and a dessert of rhubarb strawberry tart garnished with a mint leave. The class is instructed by Sherri Stastny, NDSU professor of health, nutrition, and exercise sciences.
Seating is limited, so reservations are preferred. Additional restaurant dates, names of student managers, weekly changing menu and reservation information regarding the 800 Café can be found online.
Please note the number of people in your party, time of seating, and if any food allergies need to be noted. Parking is available in the visitor’s pay parking lot on Campus.
