Why Bonsai?

bonsaithis

Any average Joe can use bonsai as a past time, and enjoy it from its pleasing powers. Recommend bonsai trees to begin with include the Japanese red Maple and the Tropical Sea Grape (Olsen par 2-3). Bonsai trees can be spiritual; the plants themselves grow and heal, giving constant creativity. A person would not get bored of the discipline and repetition associated with the task of inspiration. Pruning of the bonsai can be mastered, and depending on the plant it can require more or less time (BCB).

According to Olson, the Japanese Red Maple has leaves that change into a vibrant red or orange color in the fall or springtime (par 2). This particular Japanese beauty is an informal upright, and is considered top choice (par 3).

Sea Grape

Olson also comments on the Tropical Sea Grape, a shrubby tree. The sea grape has leaves that heal themselves with contrasting colors, or a dark red edge (par 3).
