Sport Management Program Information
Sport management majors are expected to take HNES 190 during their first semester on campus. After successfully completing HNES 190 (at least a B), sport management students are required to complete 43 hours of volunteer experience with a sport organization.
Upper-division sport management courses (300-level and above) are normally reserved for those students who have:
-achieved a grade of B or better in HNES 190,-completed 43 hours of sport-related volunteer work (HNES 192),
-successfully completed ECON 105 and ACCT 102 with a collective GPA of 2.5 or higher across both classes (a student CANNOT receive a D in either course),
-earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 for all classes,
-maintained an active role in the Sport Management Association.
It is highly recommended all students review the student handbook and all communications from the SM Program Coordinator prior to enrolling in upper-division courses. Students may be required to meet with the Program Coordinator to review and sign that they have read the student handbook.
Transfer Students
All transfer students (from other institutions or from other programs on campus) must meet with an advisor to discuss their standing in the program and the best way to move forward with their course work.
